Within the Smart-H2 project of “Vistorka Ltd” in Iceland, Icelandic Hydrogen played a major role
in designing and installing the first fuel cell system in a commercial sea-going vessel in the world . The fuel cell system generates
electricity by converting the hydrogen stored on-board under pressure into 48 V DC battery package and together the fuel cell and the
battery system act like a hybrid system whereby the fuel cell generates the base load while the batteries provide the energy needed for
the spikes and extra demand for shorter periods. |
The hydrogen is generated from renewable resources in Iceland in a hydrogen refueling station and then transported to the harbour site. At the herbour site there is,
Icelandic Hydrogen build a refueling station for the ship which works like a conventional hydrogen refueling station for H2-vehicles.
